Paddleton

I saw this little indy movie on Netflix. It is about these 2 buddies, where one of them gets a cancer diagnosis and the movie is about dealing with that, but not in the typical and expexted way. The topic may put you of, but there are some black humour in many places, so it is not dark and gloomy all the time. See more at Rotten Tomatoes.

The love lottery (Danish: kærlighedslotteriet)

I saw this on Netflix. It was an old movie from 54, just like the one I saw yesterday (An inspector calls) and it was short, only 1.5 hours. See more at Rotten Tomatoes. It was allright – some laughs here and there – and they had to do a song and a bit of dancing, but that was quick done with. And some cameo at the end, but you need to see for yourself.

An inspector calls

I saw this old British movie on Netflix. It looked like an adaptation of a theatre play, since almost everything was happening in a few indoor rooms. This inspector pays a visit to a upper class family and talks about a woman, who has died. Then I should not tell you anymore – see for yourself. See more at Rotten Tomatoes.

Mugge og vejfesten (English: Monty & the street party)

I saw this cartoon on the children channel of Danish national tv. It was ok, but somewhat weird here and there. There were some crazy one-liners in the middle of the movie, while the first and last parts were meh. The plot was pretty thin and the characters changed their mood just like that and not gradually. See more at IMDB. One thing I like with cartoons is to listen to and guess who is behind each voice.

Journal 64 (English: The purity of vengeance)

I saw this 4th adaptation of the series about Department Q by Jussi Adler Olsen on DVD borrowed from the local library. This is the final movie with Lie-Kaas as Carl Mørck. See more at Rotten Tomatoes. I’m not very fond of solving a case of murder – there is so much hatred and why do they do something so horribly to other people (murder, rape and so on). I’m more fond of the ping-pong between the main characters.

Raging Bull

I saw this on Filmstriben, the movie service by the Danish libraries. I’m not much into boxing movies, so that is why I never bothered to see it. I heard a Leonard Maltin podcast, where they talked to Cathy Moriarty, who played Vickie in the movie, so because I decided to see it at last.

I have to say that the boxing sequences look somewhat ridiculous – just as unconvincing as the the fight scenes from Rocky f.ex. I mean who fights with his hands down and no defence, but just taking in punch after punch.

I great little Danish movie about a simpleminded person, who only wants to watch the same old black and white movie over and over again, which annoys almost all of the people surrounding him. I saw this on Netflix. See more at IMDB.
